Port Sudan High Voltage Grid Connection Project – 220 kV

The project aims to strengthen the electricity infrastructure in Port Sudan, Sudan, by constructing a 120 km, 220 kV overhead transmission line to connect the city to the national grid, along with the excavation and implementation of an 80 km medium-voltage network to enhance power distribution and stability within the city and surrounding areas.
Executed by Power Factor under the commission of the Electricity Company, the project was completed in 2021 within 12 months, adhering to the highest technical standards to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of the power network. The scope of work included the installation of high-voltage transmission towers, electrical interconnections between transformers, and the excavation and laying of medium-voltage cables, all designed to improve distribution efficiency and reduce energy losses.
This project represents a strategic commitment to advancing the electricity infrastructure in Port Sudan, playing a crucial role in enhancing network reliability, supporting industrial, commercial, and port-related developments, and driving economic growth. By ensuring a sustainable and reliable power supply, the project contributes to meeting the region’s expanding energy demands and fostering long-term development in eastern Sudan.
